Frequently asked questions
Is this an official municipal service?
No. FixSA Voice is a VALO Systems hackathon demo using synthetic data. A demo reference is not proof of municipal dispatch.
What if the issue is dangerous?
Move away from danger and contact the appropriate official local emergency service. FixSA stops ordinary automation for fire, exposed electricity, gas, severe injury, crime in progress, and medical emergencies.
Does the demo keep my audio?
No. Audio is ephemeral by default. Demo mode uses a deterministic transcript and real mode streams audio to AssemblyAI only when configured and consented.
Why did FixSA suggest a duplicate?
It compares issue category, approximate distance, time window, and overlapping meaning. You see the rationale and choose whether to merge evidence or keep the report separate.
Which languages are supported?
This release exposes English only. The selected real-time model and South African accent quality must be tested before another language is offered.
Can I report without a microphone?
Yes. Use the keyboard alternative on the reporting page; it follows the same extraction, duplicate, review, and confirmation contract.
